TQUK Specialist Support (SEN) Teaching & Learning in Schools LV 3 Dip (RQF)

Special Needs SEN Teaching Assistant Course Level 3. This online Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools course is suitable for students aged 16+ who are currently working or volunteering in a school in the role of Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant. with children aged 5 and above. This SEN Teaching Assistant course is particularly aimed at students who directly support teaching and learning in reception or above in an area that requires specialist knowledge or skills. School site staff and administrators would also benefit hugely from this course.

This online course covers all the units of the Level 3 Cert in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools. In addition, learners will cover 3 additional units covering working with disabled, special educational needs and children with learning and behavioural issues. If you do not require the SEN units then please consider doing the TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools RQF 

To complete this course, learners should be placed in a classroom setting for a minimum of 1 day per week in reception year or above. If you are already employed in a school then that's the perfect scenario. If not, then maybe you could consider volunteering alongside your course? Schools love volunteers, so it's worth making contact with schools locally offering to volunteer in exchange for assisting you gain your qualification.

Entry Requirements

No previous qualifications are required.

A placement either employed or voluntary is required for a minimum of 1 day per week for the duration of the whole Course. The placement must be in a classroom setting (Reception or above). International Students must be based in a school that follows the UK Curriculum

Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g. Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc

Course Duration

Online course access and tutor support are provided for 12 months,  all included in the fee. Complete to suit within this time frame.

Assessment

Learners will be required to complete a series of tutor-marked assignments ( normally 1 after each unit) as they progress through this course. Each assignment will contain a variety of tasks/questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to monitor progress. You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.

The practical tasks within each unit of your course will require witnessing by a qualified teacher in your placement setting.  This should be the teacher you work with in the classroom. Alternatively, you can use a qualified assessor if you are fortunate to have one located within your setting. 

Your expert witness must be suitably qualified to do so as below:

Have a working knowledge of the units for which they are providing expert testimony.

Be occupationally competent in their area for which they are providing expert
testimony: 

Be a qualified teacher with QTS status or have EITHER any qualification in assessment of workplace performance eg:

Hold an A1 or D32 qualification OR a work role which involves evaluating the everyday practice of staff within their area of expertise.

Evidence/proof of the (EW) qualifications will be required.

The use of an Expert Witness (EW) should be determined and agreed by the assessor and final assessment decisions must be made by the qualified assessor based at UK Open College.
