Distance Learning Qualifications

Distance Learning Qualifications, After many years experience in the distance learning sector we fully understand how the vast array of qualifications on offer can be confusing for students. We take hundreds of calls each week from students wanting to know the differences and what qualifications lead to what and where? In addiiton to this will the course you are studying lead to a qualification that meets your needs? All vitally important questions!!

To assist with these we have detailed below all of the awarding bodies that are currently used by the college to issue certification upon completion of your studies. This should aid you in understanding what is recognised and what is not.

Please be advised that we offer no guarantees that a qualification will be recognised by a specific company. Recognition is deemed as being listed on the QCF/RQF or professionally recognised within an individual sector.

A course being listed on the RQF/QCF will be important to those students looking to enter further education as a university application will require learning credits or UCAS points as part of the entry requirements. We clearly show in each individual course detail if listed on the RQF/QCF. All courses listed on the RQG/QCF will have a qualification number displayed and the learing credits available shown as and where applicable.

Not all qualifications are listed on the RQF/ QCF, however this does not mean that employers will not accept or recognise your certification. As an example neither ICB or Sage is not listed but employers still accept them as proof of skills aquired.

Students are able to check the validiy of any RQF/QCF listed qualification by visiting OFQUAL here. Ofqual are the regulator for recognised qualifications. This will provide proof of recognition for you.If in doubt call us on 0121 288 0181 before you enrol.

A Levels
A Level certification is issued by AQA, OCR or CIE. All three bodies are nationally recognised and carry full accreditation and recognition. Upon completion of your examinations with any of the above bodies  you will gain a fully recognised qualification. A Level certification will provide you with UCAS points for any university application. UCAS points are awarded on the grade achieved.

ABC Awards – QLS

ABC Awards is a leading national Awarding Organisation, regulated by Ofqual, and the Welsh Government for their qualifications on the national framework i.e. the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework (QCF).  It has a long-established reputation for developing and awarding high quality vocational qualifications across a wide range of industries.   As a registered charity, ABC Awards combines 180 years of examination and assessment expertise but also implements a responsive, flexible and innovative approach to the needs of our customers

Courses have been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme and offered in partnership with Kendal Publishing.  This means that Kendal Publishing Ltd has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet certain quality criteria.  The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future.  The unit summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.  To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of difficulty involved in successful completion by the learner.

Courses themselves have been designed by Kendal Publishing Ltd to meet specific learners’ or employers’ requirements. ABC Awards’ endorsement involves a robust and rigorous quality audit by external inspectors to ensure quality is consistently met.  A regular review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.
