    Special Needs Level 2 Course Online. This fully accredited and fully recognised level 2 course in Special Needs and Disability will help develop the learner’s knowledge in special needs and disabilities. Learners will gain an understanding of how individuals with SEN are impacted on a day-to-day basis, and how to support them to live independent and fulfilling lives.

    This SEN course is aimed at those already working in a role related to SEN or those considering entering the sector.

    Learners are able to access their course and support for a 6 month period via our online learning platform Equal. During this time you can log in and out to suit your personal circumstances. So, if you are looking to complete the course in a shorter time, then with the right attitude and commitment, this is more than possible. We enrol 365 days a year too, so you also have the option to enrol and register online at anytime. No set term times, no lectures to attend, no exams to take! Be qualified in a matter of weeks!

    Course Syllabus

    Learners will complete 5 units of study as listed below.

    5 tutor-marked assignments to complete.

    Introduction to special educatonal needs and disability

    Understand the different conditions categorised as SEND conditions
    Understand different models of disabilities
    Understand how the rights and support available to those with a condition categorised as SEND has changed over time

    Understand equality and diversity in context of SEN

    Understand the concept of equality and diversity
    Understand legislation and guidance which supports individuals with special educational needs and disabilities
    Understand the importance of safeguarding an individual with special educational needs and disabilities
    Understand the benefits of a diverse and inclusive society for an individual with SEND

    Principles of promoting person centred approach for individuals with SEND

    Understand person centred approaches
    Understand the importance of encouraging active participation
    Understand the importance of an individual’s well being

    Understanding SEND and learning

    Understand the importance of inclusive learning
    Understand the use of support programmes for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities
    Understand the role of reasonable adjustments
    Understand Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)

    Living with special educational needs and disabilities

    Understand the concept of neurodiversity
    Understand the concept of the self
    Understand the impact of cultural influeences on individuals with conditions categoriseed as SEND

    Entry Requirements

    No previous qualifications are required

    Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Course Duration

    Online course access and tutor support are provided for 6 months,  all included in the fee. Complete to suit within this time frame.

    Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 110 Hours
    Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 140 Hours

    On average, learners will complete this course within 4 months. Feel free to complete as quickly or as slowly as you wish within the 6 month period.

    This course provides successful students with a fully recognised qualification from TQUK, listed on the RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework). TQUK is recognised as an awarding organisation by the qualification regulators for England and Northern Ireland, who are: the office of the qualifications and examinations regulator (OFQUAL) in England and the council for curriculum, examinations and assessment (CCA) in Northern Ireland.

    Please note: This qualification is not recognised in Scotland or Wales.

    Assessment

    Learners will be required to complete a series of tutor marked assignments ( normally 1 after each unit) as they progress through this course. Each assignment will contain a variety of tasks/questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to monitor progress. You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

    There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
