The purpose of this online qualification is to develop learners knowledge and understanding of the Prevent duty, British values, safeguarding and online safety.

The purpose of the qualification is to develop learners' knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to uphold British values in their current or future roles.

This includes developing an understanding of the effects of extremism, radicalisation and terrorism.

The aims are to promote equality, diversity and social inclusion in the workplace to support the Government's agenda on tackling radicalisation and extremism.

The qualification also develops learners knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and online safety.

The knowledge and skills developed are appropriate to a wide range of job roles and are relevant to organisations in meeting their statutory requirements under the Prevent Duty.

The qualification is appropriate to a wide range of learners especially those on apprenticeship programmes or other training to prepare for work or as part of induction to a job role.

It can also be used as part of citizenship programmes for individuals coming to live in the UK

Learners will complete 4 units of study in total as listed below.

Principles of safeguarding

Understand the national and local context of safeguarding & protection from abuse
Understand the responsibilities of adults to safeguard children & young people
Know how to recognise potential & actual abuse and harm
Know how to respond if abuse is disclosed, suspected or alleged
Understand ways to reduce the likelihood of abuse

The Prevent duty and it’s importance in society

Understand the prevent duty and its importance in society
Understand how extremism, terrorism & radicalisation can be addressed and combated

The importance of British Values

Understand what is meant by “British Values”
Understand democracy in relation to British Values
Understand mutual respect, tolerance and individual liberty
Know how to promote British Values in own activities

The importance of online safety

Understand the scope & risks of online activity
Understand how online risks can be minimised
Understand the influence of social media
Understand how to promote the safe use of social media
Understand how to promote the safe us of social media
Understand how to recognise and respond to changes in behaviour indicating unsafe online activity

Entry Requirements

There are no previous qualifications required. However, students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g. Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
Have a genuine desire to succeed

Students do not require a placement to complete this course.

TQUK is recognised as an awarding organisation by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are: the office of the qualifications and examinations regulator (OFQUAL) in England, the Welsh Government and the council for curriculum, examinations and assessment (CCA) in Northern Ireland.

Please note: This qualification is not recognised in Scotland.

Assessment

You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
