    To register with Ofsted, you must hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate. Please see link direct to the government website on how to register as a childminder.

    Course Syllabus

    Learners will complete 4 units of study in total as listed below.

    4 tutor marked assignment to complete

    Roles and responsibilities of those caring for children in a home environment. 

    Understand how to create safe surroundings for children cared for at home.
    Understand health and saftey responsibilities when caring for childen in a home environment.
    Understand how to work with others to support children being cared for.
    Understand how to safeguard and protect children.

    Children’s development, well-being and behaviour

    Know the key development events for children
    Know the factors which affect a child’s development
    Understand the role of play in a child’s development
    Know how a child’s behaviour is influenced

    Plan to care for a child in a home environment

    Understand the importance of healthy eating
    Be able to plan activities which suppot a child’s development
    Know how to promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion when caring for children

    Provide a childcare service in own home. 

    Know how to manage self when running a childcare business in your own home
    Know what is expected of an individual running a childcare business in their own home, 
    Understand how to operate legally as a business providing childcare in your own home

    Entry Requirements

    No previous qualifications are required

    Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the english language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Microsoft Word installed on your device
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Course Duration

    Online course access and tutor support are provided for 6 months,  all included in the fee. Complete to suit within this time frame.

    Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 49 Hours
    Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 62 Hours

    On average, learners will complete this course within 2 months.

    Tutors & Support

    All learners have access to a qualified tutor via email for the stated support period. In addition to this you are able to speak to our support team via telephone with any query you may have relating to your course.

    Assessment

    Learners will be required to complete a series of tutor marked assignments ( normally 1 after each unit) as they progress through this course. Each assignment will contain a variety of tasks/questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to monitor progress. You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

    There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
