    Description

Marine Biology Level 3 online course. Marine biology is the scientific study of organisms living in the ocean and other saltwater environments, such as seas and estuaries. It encompasses a wide range of topics, from the behavior and physiology of marine species to the ecology of marine ecosystems. Marine biologists study the interactions between marine organisms and their environments, the processes that govern life in the oceans, and the impact of human activities on marine life.

Marine biology is a dynamic and interdisciplinary field essential for understanding the complex and vital roles that marine organisms and ecosystems play in our planet’s health. By studying marine biology, scientists can contribute to the conservation and sustainable management of the world’s oceans, ensuring they remain vibrant and productive for future generations.

This Marine Biology Level 3 course provides students with an insight into the life of a marine biologist, Learners are able to enrol 365 days a year and adapt their studies to suit over a 12 month period.

This Marine Biology course will provide students with the following knowledge:

    • Understand tectonic plates and continental drift
    • Explore the origins of life and the concept of evolution
    • Understand the chemical, physical and biological properties of seawater that make it capable of supporting life
    • Investigate how marine life has adapted to be able to cope with the different marine environments
    • Understand primary production and how it differs in the marine environment from on land
    • Gain an understanding of food chains and food webs
    • Recognise the damaging impact of humans in the recent past
    • Identify ways in which we can protect our oceans for the future

Qualification: Marine Biology Level 3 Award – QLS
    Support: 1-year support included
Start Date: Anytime – We enrol 365 days a year
    Endorsed Specification: Certificate of Achievement

    Course Outcome

ABC Quality License Scheme – Certificate of Achievement

At the end of this course, successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme & is offered in partnership with Open Study College (OSC). This means that OSC has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet certain quality criteria.  The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future.

The unit summary can be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.  To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by OFQUAL, to indicate the depth of study and level of difficulty involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed by Open Study College to meet specific learners’ and /or employers requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. Abc Awards & Cert awards endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.
