    Description

Online Dyscalculia Course. Dyscalculia is a learning difficulty that affects a child’s ability to understand and work with numbers and mathematical concepts. Learn about this Special Educational Need, common signs, impact on academic outcomes and wellbeing, and explore strategies for teaching children and young people with dyscalculia.

    Learning Outcomes

    • You will understand how this learning difficulty affects children and young people in school and in daily life
    • You will understand the barriers to learning children with dyscalculia face, and the strengths they possess
    • You will be able to apply teaching strategies to help children learn and understand maths concepts

    Advantages of this course

      • When you identify a child who is struggling at the earliest point and get them the support they need, you are giving that child the best possible start in life. This course will help you to identify the children who may have dyscalculia, and explains the assessment process.
      • If left unaddressed and unsupported, difficulties in maths can affect overall academic progress, limit opportunities, and have a negative long-term effect on wellbeing. A presentation in this course explores teaching strategies that will help every child experience success in maths.
      • A think and challenge section asks you to put learning into practice, and there are a number of high quality external resources included in the course that help to extend learning
