Adverse Childhood Experiences Course. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are highly stressful, and potentially traumatic, events, or situations that occur during childhood and adolescence. Learn about different types of ACEs and how they can impact on health and wellbeing (both short and long-term), risk and protective factors for adversity, and how to help build resilience that lasts a lifetime. This course is suitable for childcare and care practitioners, educators, and parents and carers.
Learning objectives
- You will understand the different types of ACEs and what can contribute to the vulnerability of a child or young person to experiencing a highly stressful event
- You will understand the impact of toxic stress on children, especially younger children, and the importance of raising awareness of ACEs
- You will know some strategies to build resilience in children and young people
