Throughout the course, you will explore the key functions of business, developing a strong understanding of marketing, finance, operations, human resources and strategic decision-making. The specification is structured around four themes: Marketing and People, Managing Business Activities, Business Decisions and Strategy, and Global Business. As your studies progress, you will examine how organisations respond to internal and external influences, manage change, analyse financial performance and develop competitive strategies in an increasingly global marketplace. You’ll also strengthen your problem-solving, numerical, research and evaluation skills by applying business theory to real-world case studies and current commercial issues.
Assessment is entirely examination-based, with students completing three written papers at the end of the course. Paper 1 focuses on Marketing, People and Global Businesses, Paper 2 covers Business Activities, Decisions and Strategy, while Paper 3 draws together content from all four themes through a synoptic investigation based on a pre-released business context. This assessment structure encourages students to apply their knowledge to realistic business scenarios and demonstrate well-reasoned decision-making skills.
