    Online Dyslexia Course. Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty and dyslexic learners face problems when processing words into meaningful information, but that doesn’t mean it’s a barrier to being skilled and achieving well in education. With about 10% of the UK population with some degree of dyslexia, it’s likely you will be supporting dyslexic learners. Learn how the condition affects children and young people, signs and symptoms, the importance of early identification, and teaching strategies.

    This online Dyslexia course is suitable for early years practitioners and educators in primary school, secondary school, and further education.

    Learning outcomes

    • Understand the condition and how it can affect reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension. Dyslexia isn’t just about literacy and affects other areas of learning. These areas will be outlined in the course.
    • Find out about the other specific learning difficulties/disabilities associated with dyslexia
    • Learn about the signs and symptoms of dyslexia in the early years, school aged children, and young adults. Persisting factors into adulthood will also be described.
    • Understand the importance of early identification and Individual Education Plans

    Entry Requirements

    There are no previous qualifications required. However, students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g. Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Students do not require a placement to complete this course. 

    Course Duration

    These short courses can be completed in approx 10 hours of study. This will depend on student commitment and ability. Ideal for those who are considering a career in the childcare sector or indeed qualified practitioners looking to enhance their skills in a particular topic.

    Study Method

    Students are able to complete their course purely online though our student portal. Students can expect to receive access to the student portal via email within 1 working days of enrolment being received.

    Once enrolment is received we will email you access and log in information to make a start on your chosen course.

    Assessment

    Students will progress through a series of topics online through our student portal. As students progress through the course they will complete four lots of multiple choice quiz type assessments. If you dont complete first time you can try the assessments again at no extra charge.
