    Online allergies course. 1 in 4 people in the UK will be affected by allergies at some point in their life and allergies are particularly common in children. Learn about common allergies, how the body reacts to allergens, and symptoms. Consider how to reduce the risk of direct contact and what to do if you suspect an allergic reaction.

    Learning outcomes

    • If a child comes into contact with an allergen they are sensitive to, they may experience an allergic reaction. Understand the different ways you can come into contact with allergens and know how to prevent it, or limit the exposure. This includes advice on food hygiene and reducing the risk of cross-contamination of food allergens.
    • Understand common allergies, such as hayfever and dust allergy, and common food allergies, such as milk and nuts
    • Know the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and first aid advice about anaphylaxis
    • Gain an insight into living with allergies and how you can keep your home environment safe and hygienic for people for allergies

    Entry Requirements

    There are no previous qualifications required. However, students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g. Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Students do not require a placement to complete this course. 

    Course Duration

    These short courses can be completed in approx 10 hours of study. This will depend on student commitment and ability. Ideal for those who are considering a career in the childcare sector or indeed qualified practitioners looking to enhance their skills in a particular topic.

    Assessment

    Students will progress through a series of topics online through our student portal. As students progress through the course they will complete four lots of multiple choice quiz type assessments. If you dont complete first time you can try the assessments again at no extra charge.

    Study Method

    Students are able to complete their course purely online though our student portal. Students can expect to receive access to the student portal via email within 1 working days of enrolment being received.

    Once enrolment is received we will email you access and log in information to make a start on your chosen course.
