    Description

    This online Level 3 Understanding Mental Health course is knowledge-based and is a nationally recognised qualification aimed at developing the learner’s knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. Learners will be given a thorough grounding in what is meant by mental health terminology, the issues and consequences of mental health conditions, an understanding of working within the mental health sector and the context of mental health and well-being.

    Learners are able to access their course and support for a 6 month period via our online learning platform Equal. During this time you can log in and out to suit your personal circumstances. So, if you are looking to complete the course in a shorter time, then with the right attitude and commitment, this is more than possible. We enrol 365 days a year too, so you also have the option to enrol and register online at anytime. No set term times, no lectures to attend, no exams to take! Be qualified in a matter of weeks if you prefer!

    Understand mental health conditions in context

    Understand mental health principles
    Understand legislation in the context of mental health conditions
    Understand how campaigns and strategies can be used to promote mental health well-being
    Understand attitudes towards mental health in society

    Living with a mental health condition

    Understand how living with a mental health condition impacts on individuals
    Understand how families of individuals with mental health conditions are affected

    Understanding treatment of mental health conditions

    Understand the role of diagnosis and planning in the recovery process for individuals with a mental health condition
    Know a range of treatments available for individuals with mental health conditions

    Mental health conditions and destructive behaviour

    Understand the types of self-destructive behaviour that might be displayed by an individual with a mental health condition
    Understand the potential consequences for individuals who engage in self-destructive behaviour
    Know how to support someone with a mental health condition who displays self-destructive behaviour

    Understand the role of the mental health care worker

    Understand the different roles and responsibilities relevant to those involved in providing mental health care
    Understand how to evaluate and develop own skills and knowledge as part of continual professional development
    Understand the role of reflective practice.

    Entry Requirements

    No previous qualifications are required

    Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    This course comes with 6 months of support included:

    Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 153 Hours
    Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 210 Hours

    On average, learners will complete this course within 4 months.

TQUK is recognised as an awarding organisation by the qualification regulators for England and Northern Ireland, who are: the office of the qualifications and examinations regulator (OFQUAL) in England and the council for curriculum, examinations and assessment (CCA) in Northern Ireland.

    Please note: This qualification is not recognised in Scotland or Wales.

    There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
