Engaging Hard to Reach Parents Course. Many educators recognise the importance of involving parents in children’s learning, which is why hard-to-reach parentscan present one of the greatest challenges. This course explores the reasons some parents and carers become disengaged, how to overcome barriers to participation, and ways to rebuild trust with families.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will:
Understand why parents and carers may become hard to reach
Recognise the importance of effective communication and learn strategies to overcome communication barriers
Explore approaches to engaging groups at greater risk of being hard to reach, including fathers and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller families

Gaining insight into the reasons for parental disengagement, as well as the circumstances and challenges families may face, is key to supporting them in creating positive home learning environments and removing barriers to engagement.
