    Anatomy and physiology are interconnected and often studied together because understanding the structure of the body (anatomy) helps in understanding its functions (physiology), and vice versa. For example, to understand how the heart pumps blood (a physiological function), it is essential to know the structure of the heart and its components (anatomy).

    Learners will complete 6 units of study in total as listed below.

    • Main structures of the respiratory system
    • Gas exchange in the lungs
    • A journey of food through the GI Tract
    • Explain the structure and function of the renal system
    Unit 4: Protection Systems
    • Structure and function of the integumentary system
    • How the skin regulates boy temperature
    • Structure and function of the immune system
    • Immune response and how it protects us from infection
    Unit 5: Movement
    • Structure and function of the skeletal system
    • The function of tendons and ligaments
    • Structure and function of the skeletal muscular system
    • How skeletal muscles create movement
    Unit 6: Reproduction
    • Structure and function of key components of the female reproductive system
    • Structure and function of key components of the male reproductive system
    • Stages of the menstrual cycle
    • Physiology of the first nine weeks of pregnancy following fertilisation

    Entry Requirements

    No previous qualifications are required

    Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Course Duration

    This course comes with 12 months of support included:

    Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 80 Hours
    Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 100 Hours

    On average, learners will complete this course within 6 months.

    Course Outcome

    ABC Quality License Scheme – Certificate of Achievement

    At the end of this course, successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).

    There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
