    Description

    Online Equine Studies Level 2 Course. This course is perfect for those with a love and passion for horses. This online Equine Studies Course is available for enrolment 365 days a year.

    You will learn the following:

    • how the horse has evolved
    • the physical features of the horse
    • the differences between breeds
    • what you should take into account when buying a horse
    • what gear you should have, and, just as importantly
    • issues to do with safety and the health of horses

    You will also learn more about the skills of riding such as walking and halting.

    However, we do need to stress that this course is for those who are riders themselves and not really for those are simply enthusiasts. Some of our assignment questions do pre-suppose that the student has some practical experience of horses and riding, and those who don’t have access to a horse and the whole experience of riding would not be able to complete the assignments.

    Course Syllabus

    Learners will complete 12 units of study in total as listed below.

    UNIT 1: Evolution of the Horse
    UNIT 2: Anatomy of the Horse
    UNIT 3: Horse Breeds
    UNIT 4: Which Horse is Best for you?
    UNIT 5: Buying a Horse
    UNIT 6: Basic Health and Safety for the Rider and Establishment
    UNIT 7: Grooming and Tacking
    UNIT 8: Leading, Mounting and Dismounting
    UNIT 9: Walking and Halting
    UNIT 10: Trotting Basics
    UNIT 11: Stable Care
    UNIT 12: Basic Vet Care and First Aid

    Entry Requirements

    There are no previous qualifications required. However, students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

    Be aged 16 Years or above
    Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
    Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
    Basic computer skills: e.g. Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
    Have a genuine desire to succeed

    Students do not require a placement to complete this course. 

    Course Duration

    This course comes with 12 months of support included:

    Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 80 Hours
    Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 100 Hours

    On average, learners will complete this course within 6 months.

    Course Outcome

    ABC Quality Licence Scheme – Certificate of Achievement

    At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and  a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).

    There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
