Yes you can! With Open College’s range of online childcare courses. The online courses are designed to be entirely flexible to fit around your existing commitments, such as work or family.
You will be required to be in placement alongside your online coursework for some courses. This is clearly stated within the course detail if required.
Yes they are! UK Open College offers a wide range of fully recognised NVQ Childcare courses. The online childcare qualifications are also fully accredited by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK). Both our Early Years LV2 & Early Years Level 3 Diplomas are also accepted by Ofsted.
No, you can start your learning journey without any previous qualifications, but check each course individually to see which is the most suitable for your experience and learning goals. You should however be aged 16 years or over, possess a solid knowledge of the English Language and have access to a computer and the internet for the duration of the course.
To qualify to work in a nursery or preschool you will need to hold either a Level 2 Diploma as an Early Years Practitioner or a Level 3 Diploma as an Early Years educator.
Both courses will allow you to be included in the staff to child ratios in your setting. (Paediatric First Aid also required for inclusion in Ratios)
Yes! You must be observed in practice to qualify. Do not be fooled by courses offered elsewhere that claim otherwise. This is an Ofsted requirement. Without observation, you will not be qualified for employment.
NVQ’s for this sector were abolished a long time ago to be replaced by new qualifications. Employers will still ask for NVQ’s when looking for staff. Our qualifications are the new and direct replacement for the old NVQ’s. Both are accepted by Ofsted.

Whether you are a complete beginner or wanting to increase and improve the knowledge you already have, we have Online Childcare Courses which will be appropriate for your requirements. By studying from home the work will be able to be adapted around family or other commitments. Another great advantage is that whichever course is chosen can be started during any month in the year, rather than the usual start in September if the course is being taken at college.
There isn’t any need to attend lectures or tutorials and the student can work at their own speed, knowing that there is full support available from the advisors at UK Open College. Full course material is provided for all Online Childcare Courses and there is no requirement to have any knowledge before commencing the work. Once the decision has been made to start one of our Online Childcare Courses, the first thing is to enrol and pay the course fee. All coursework will then be delivered within seven days.
