Our Child Mental Health course aims to cover various essential topics related to mental health issues that children and young people may experience and the different ways in which they can be supported. It begins by defining mental illness and mental health problems and their impact on children and young people. The course provides extensive coverage of the many types of mental illnesses found in this group, how they can be recognized and treated, and the role of mental healthcare professionals involved in their treatment.
The discussed mental illnesses include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, self-harm, eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, schizophrenia, autism, learning difficulties, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, sleep apnea, and social phobia. The course also covers the symptoms and causes of these illnesses and the actions to take if someone suspects that a child or young person has a mental health condition.
Furthermore, our Child Mental Health course focuses on the different treatments available for these illnesses, including psychotherapy, mindfulness, play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and medication. It also discusses prognosis and prevention and provides practical techniques for promoting positive mental health and dispelling common myths.
