By completing the Childrens Mental Health Course, learners will develop knowledge of:

Learners will complete 5 units of study in total as listed below.

Understand the principles of mental health concerns in the context of children & young people

Understand the concept of mental health
Know the legislation and guidance that applies to chidren & young people’s mental health
Understand how society views mental health

Legislation and best practice relating to children and young people’s mental health

Understand risk factors which may effect the mental well-being of children & young people
Understand the potential effects of puberty and developmental changes on the mental health of chldren & young people. 
Understand how abuse or bullying may effect the mental health of children & young people

Living with childhood mental health conditions

Understand behaviour that is associated with mental health concerns in children & young people
Understand stress and anxiety in young people
Understand depression in children & young people
Know about specific mental health conditions that children & young people may experience.

Understand how to minimise the risk of mental health concerns in children & young people

Understand the impact mental health concerns can have on children & young people
Understand the impact of children & young people’s mental health problems on others
Understand the importance of being diagnosed with a mental health problem

Understand causes and diagnosis of mental health concerns in children & young people

Understand person-centred approaches to supporting children and young people with mental health concerns
Understand how to promote mental well-being in children & young people
Understand services and treatment involved with children & young people’s mental health

No previous qualifications are required

Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the english language
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
Have a genuine desire to succeed

This course provides successful students with a qualification from TQUK, listed on the RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework) database. TQUK is recognised as an awarding organisation by the qualification regulators for England and Northern Ireland, who are: the office of the qualifications and examinations regulator (Ofqual) in England and the council for curriculum, examinations and assessment (CCA) in Northern Ireland.

Please note: This qualification is not recognised in Scotland or Wales.

Assessment

Learners will be required to complete a series of tutor marked assignments ( normally 1 after each unit) as they progress through this course. Each assignment will contain a variety of tasks/questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to monitor progress. You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

There is no examination to complete as the course is completed using continual assessment.
