TQUK Early Years LV2 Cert – Children & Young Peoples Workforce (RQF)

This online Early Years Chlidcare Course (Level 2) has been developed for people wanting to work in the children and young people’s workforce in Early Years, Nursery and Reception Class Settings.

It is ideal for learners who are just starting out in their career and do not feel ready to take a full early years course Level 3 qualification.

An ideal first step for those students looking to progress onto the new early year's educator course in the future.

Suitable for those in full or part-time learning or employment, it builds the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth up to 19 years.

On completion of this course, learners will be able to work under guidance, in a wide range of job roles. If you wish to be included in the Staff/Child Ratio's you must complete the Lv2 Diploma instead. You can view the LV2 Early Years Practitioner Course here

Learners will complete 13 units of study in total as listed below.

Unit 1: Child & Young Person Development

The main stages of child and young person development
The kinds of influences that effect children and young people’s development. 
The potential effects of transitions on children and young people’s development.

Unit 2: Contribute to the support of child and young person

Contribute to assessments of the development needs of children and young people
Suppport the development of children & young people
Support children & young people experiencing transitions
Support children & young people’s positive behaviour
Use reflective practice to improve own contribution to child and young person development

Unit 3: Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people

The legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people including e-safety
What to do when children or young people are ill or injured, including emergency procedures
How to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused, harmed or bullied

Unit 4: Contribute to Children and Young People’s Health and Safety

The health and safety policies and  procedures of the work setting
Recognise risks and hazards in the work setting and during off site visits
What to do in the event of a non-medical incident or emergency
What to do in the event of a child or young person becoming ill or injured
The work setting procedures for reporting and recording accidents, incidents, emergencies and illnesses
Follow infection control procedures
The work setting’s procedures for receiving, storing and administering medicines.

The regulatory requirements for a positive environment for children & yong people
Support a positive environment that meets the individual needs of children & young people.
Support the personal care needs of children and yong people within a positive environment
Support the nutritional and dietary needs of children & young people

Unit 6: Understand Partnership Working in Services for Children and Young People

Partnership working within the context of services for children & young people
The importance of effective communication and information sharing in services for children & young people
The importance of partnerships with carers

Unit 7: Support Children & Young People’s Behaviour

The policies and procedures of the setting for promoting children & young people’s positive behaviour

Respond to inappropriate behaviour

Unit 8: Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Why communication is important in the work setting
Meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of individuals

Entry Requirements

No previous qualifications are required

Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:

Have a confirmed placement in early years setting for the duration of the whole course-Minimum 1 day per week

Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the English language
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
Have a genuine desire to succeed

This course comes with 12 months of support included:

Guided Learning Hours (GLH) – 261 Hours
Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 350 Hours

On average, learners will complete this course within 10 months.
